Welcome to the Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) web page. The majority of the members are from Spokane Washington, however the chapter takes in northern Idaho and parts of eastern Washington. The chapter invites all interested to participate in meetings, training and information sharing.
DOT HazMat Transportation Training
Thursday, February 18th, 2010 - 8:00am-2:30pm - LaQuinta Inn
This course will review the regulations, proper documentation, preparation of shipping documents, emergency response, and security for highway and rail shipments and provide references to IATA and IMDG regulations and their applicability to marine and air transportation.
Required training under 49 CFR 172 for employees who:
- Prepare hazardous material for transport,
- Receive or otherwise handle hazmat loads,
- Prepare or package hazardous materials (hazmat) for transport,
- Operate vehicles transporting hazmat
- Have other responsibilities for hazmat during transport,
- Employers who cause employees to perform any of the functions above are required to attend periodic HazMat Transportation training. (This may include foremen, engineers, procurement personnel, administrative specialists & clerks, technicians, and mechanics)
There are no prerequisites for this class. Lunch will be provided.

Beth Hodgson is the principal engineer of Spring Environmental based in Spokane since 1997. The firm provides environmental and safety consulting and engineering services to manufacturing and service companies throughout the Pacific Northwest.
